Haad Rin is the hub where the majority of the nightlife, hostels, bars and shops are in Koh Phangan, including the Full Moon parties. Consequently, this means that the beach in Haad Rin is overrun with tourists, and often littered with rubbish from the previous nights party. We decided to stay in Haad Yao, located around the top of the island to change it up and see what else Koh Phangan has to offer.
We rented a scooter and I braved my phobia of riding over the massive (and seemingly dangerous) hills on the island. With no real direction in mind, we headed further north and then turned down a few roads to find an incredible beach! Only a few people were there, the sand was white and soft and the water was the clearest I had seen yet. It was so peaceful.

After sun baking and swimming for awhile, we decided to move on and keep exploring. We drove further north, heading towards Had Salat and then again turned down a random road. It seemed to be a little fishing village, with many stalls, fisherman boats and absolutely no tourists in sight!! We went past the pier, along a little sandy road and then stopped at a beach side restaurant. They had little huts along the beach you could sit in, with the most perfect view!! We splashed out and ordered a couple of cocktails and some lunch. It was delicious!! This turned out to be one of our favourite days in Koh Phangan, as we got to explore and find some beautiful and secluded spots on the island. So Koh Phangan is not just about the night life and crazy full moon parties - it has a lot to offer and offers some of the most stunning scenery in Thailand. What was your favourite spot in Koh Phangan??
